7.5m Bridge gave access to the farm
Waikana Road, Taringatura WintonGM Design presents a remarkable 7.5 meter bridge design that showcases our expertise and innovation in the field. The structure incorporates steel beams placed onto robust 200UC60 columns, ensuring the bridge’s stability and strength.
The foundation of the columns is meticulously executed, with pile driving performed to meet stringent standards. The depth of approximately 3.5 meters, but the piles are driven until refusal. The final sets are subjected to inspection and approval by the on-site engineer, ensuring optimal foundation integrity.
A meticulous jacking procedure is executed before the attachment of deck units. The steel beams are jacked at mid-span off the riverbed, lifting them approximately 15mm. Once in position, the deck units are securely attached, followed by dry pack non-shrinkage additive grout placement. The grout is mixed with limited water content and left to cure for 14 days, guaranteeing a solid connection. After the curing period, the props supporting the centre of the steel beams can be removed.
The deck units of the bridge are designed with meticulous attention to detail. They utilize 30MPa concrete, offering excellent strength and durability. Additional inserts are incorporated into the precast deck units to accommodate handrails, ensuring the safety of pedestrians. Hair-pin stirrups are strategically placed around the insert areas for localized pull-out resistance, while H10 rods are set along the edge of the mesh termination for enhanced structural integrity.
The deck units are designed to accommodate HN loading, with a reduction factor of 0.85 applied for lightly trafficked rural bridges. To retain the side abutment walls, driven timber H5 strainer posts with a diameter of 200mm are utilized. These posts are horizontally sheathed with 200x75mm timbers, securely held in place using 8mm galvanized steel wire rope, steel washers, and commercial clamps. The wire rope is meticulously fastened to opposing posts, ensuring the stability and integrity of the abutment walls.
The 7.5-meter bridge design by GM Design exemplifies their commitment to excellence, delivering a
structure that seamlessly combines functionality, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
