Freshford plains station road 15m bridge with flooding waterway

GM Designs is embarking on an exciting new project involving the construction of a 15-meter private bridge at Freshford Plains Station Road. The bridge has been meticulously designed by our engineers. It is important to note that the site of the bridge is situated in a flood-prone region.

Considering the unique challenges posed by the location, we have thoroughly analysed the water flow at the proposed bridge. The critical design considers the elevation of the beams, ensuring that the bottom of the beams is positioned 330mm above the adjacent bank on the Northeast side. This strategic placement serves a crucial purpose: it restricts the height of the river’s overflow and stage at this specific point. By allowing additional water volume to flow at a reduced velocity, we can accommodate up to 35% more flow around the bridge, specifically at this abutment. On the far side, where the bank rises towards the adjacent hill, the passage of water is intelligently directed to a single abutment.

By incorporating these innovative design considerations, we ensure that the new 15m private bridge at Freshford Plains Station Road can effectively manage the water flow during flood events. Our focus on optimizing the cross section and redirecting water intelligently not only enhances the bridge’s structural resilience but also minimizes the impact of flooding in the area. GM Designs is committed to delivering a high-quality bridge that seamlessly blends functionality, durability, and environmental consciousness.
